About Chambers

Hi, we are Chambers a small, family-owned and operated business that has proudly served the wonderful Ponsonby community since 1996 — and nearly 30 years later, we’re still here doing what we love. Chambers is now run by me, Erin (second from left), and exceptional customer service remains at the heart of everything we do.

So, what makes us different from the bigger stores?  I work full-time in store and personally manage both our physical and online shop every day. If you ever need help, have a question, or simply want to say hello, please reach out. I genuinely love connecting with our customers and am always happy to help.

Chambers began with my beautiful mum, who left her corporate career to follow her dream of owning a store. Taking a leap of faith, she opened a wee shop in the Three Lamps end of Ponsonby Road and even lived upstairs so she could make it work without the burden of paying a mortgage as well. In those early days, Chambers focused on beautiful linen and thoughtful gifts. Today, Mum is enjoying a well-earned retirement, and I’ve proudly carried the business forward for the past 25 years.

Over the years, Chambers has evolved from its original beginnings into the lifestyle store it is today — filled with fashion, gifts, accessories, and homewares carefully chosen to bring joy to everyday life. We’re proud to be leading stockists of much-loved brands including Stella + Gemma, Elm Lifestyle, Foxwood, Tirelli, and Betty Basics, as well as the exclusive New Zealand stockists of the beautiful Bemboka blankets.

These incredible brands — alongside many other thoughtfully selected labels — have helped shape Chambers into the vibrant, welcoming store it is today. We’re constantly sourcing quality products from both New Zealand and overseas, so there’s always something fresh and exciting to discover when you visit us.

Our friendly Chambers team will always greet you with a smile and do everything we can to make your shopping experience feel personal and special. And if you pop in without buying a thing? That’s perfectly okay too. We love a chat, a laugh, and the kind of genuine connection that good old-fashioned small-business retailing is built on.
